Lisa Marie Presley marries guitarist
Thursday, February 16, 2006; Posted: 8:12 p.m. EST (01:12 GMT)LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock 'n' roll king Elvis Presley, has married guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood in a ceremony in Kyoto, Japan, her publicist said Thursday.
Presley, 38, and Lockwood exchanged vows in a traditional Japanese ceremony on Jan. 22, spokesman Paul Bloch said.
It is Presley's fourth marriage. She was previously married to Nicolas Cage, Michael Jackson and Danny Keough, who is the father of her two children.
The bride's mother, actress Priscilla Presley, walked her daughter down the aisle and gave her away, Bloch said.
Daughter Riley Keough was maid of honor and son Benjamin Keough was a groomsman. The best man was Presley's first husband Danny Keough.
Also attending the wedding were Lockwood's parents, Vivian and William Lockwood.
Lockwood was Presley's musical director and is listed as executive producer on her 2005 album "Now What."
Presley lives in the Los Angeles area but Bloch said he didn't know where the couple planned to live.

Lisa Marie: One On One With Mary Hart
November 3, 2005
LISA MARIE PRESLEY is getting angry on the streets of downtown Los Angeles, but don't let that fool you, the rock royal is only acting it up for her new video for her single "Idiot" from her latest album Now What. In real life, the 37-year-old songstress is singing life's praises as she opens up about music, motherhood and whether a wedding is in the works."I am the happiest I've ever been and I'm in the most sane, calm, best relationship that I've ever been in, for sure," she says of her romance with her musical director boyfriend MICHAEL LOCKWOOD, keeping quiet about any marriage plans.
She says they simply make each other happy. "I can tell you the most amazing thing is that we've been together for two years and there hasn't been one fight," she says, "which is a pretty big deal."
And proof that the pair are in a mature -- and unique -- relationship is the fact that her ex-husband, and father of her two children, DANNY KEOUGH, is in her band -- the one her boyfriend directs.
"Michael is the musical director, so he's like the boss of the band, Danny is the father of my children and we have this other dynamic," she says. "It's very complicated, yet it's very simple because they get along so well that it doesn't interfere with anything."
Being a mother to her two teenage children is also something Lisa Marie takes pride in. She says although she's not a "crazy, controlling mother," she does worry about her kids growing up in La La land.
"The things I don't want her doing are getting affected by L.A., having Hollywood kids, Hollywood clubs, the Hollywood scene," she says. "I'm so against all of that."

Lisa Marie Presley's itinerary tackles some postponements
Lisa Marie Presley (tickets | music) has rescheduled a number of concert appearances postponed from July, when the singer abruptly pulled the plug on her tour plans with a promise to "revamp" her show.
Presley's current schedule only vaguely follows the original postponed itinerary. She'll make her first appearance Nov. 6 in Portland, OR, following that show with nine more dates across the middle of November, primarily in West Coast cities. The new schedule adds several stops that weren't in the original version, including San Francisco and Los Angeles, while leaving out several cities that were on the postponed list, including all of her planned dates in Canada. There is currently no official word on whether the singer plans to make up those dates or leave them out entirely.
Presley toured the eastern U.S. following the early April release of her sophomore album, "Now What," which debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The set houses her cover of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry," as well as the single "Thanx," featuring Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones.
Presley executive produced "Now What" with guitarist Michael Lockwood, and wrote the lyrics for 10 of the album's tracks, according to a press release. Former Four Non-Blondes frontwoman Linda Perry collaborated with Presley on the album, and guests on the cut "Shine."
[Note: The following tour itinerary has been provided by artist and/or tour sources, who verify its accuracy as of the publication time of this story. Changes may occur before tickets go on sale. Check with official artist websites, ticketing sources and venues for late updates.]

THANK YOU FOR THE PIC. CHRIS!
"We'll put these in here and then we'll put all the dog toys in the other thing," said actress Kirstie Alley.
Kirstie Alley's first trip was about binge shopping, virtually cleaning out Memphis retailers and packing up a series of southbound semi-trucks.
"We're in Memphis because this is where we can get a lot of bulk supplies because if you go in close to New Orleans or Baton Rouge it's sort of empty," she said.
Lisa Marie Presley bought thousands of dollars of supplies at a Memphis Target last weekend and drove them down in semi's to Louisiana. Kirstie Alley has hit a Costco and a pet store and plans to fill up five trucks.
The manager from a nearby Factory Card Outlet showed up during our interview.
"We are willing to donate toys for your cause. Send down for hurricane relief. We're coming right over!" said Alley. "The main reason we're going to New Orleans is to take a semi-load into the relief workers because they're really hurting because they don't have... They don't have anything," she said.

NASCAR bug bites Presley, to serve as race Grand Marshal
by Doug Franklin *Thank you JULIE!
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Track officials announced today that Memphis’s own Lisa Marie Presley will serve as Grand Marshal of the NASCAR Busch Series Sam’s Town 250 on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Memphis Motorsports Park.
Presley is the face of the latest 30-second NASCAR ad that asks, "How bad have you got it?" The commercial combines footage of Lisa Marie at the Daytona race in July with her song “Thanx” off the Now What album, which debuted in April at No. 9 on the Billboard chart.
Though her time at the Daytona International Speedway was her first NASCAR race to attend in person, she's quick to say that she’s already hooked. “I’m looking forward to being the Grand Marshal at the Sam's Town 250,” Presley said. “I've definitely become a total NASCAR fan!”
Presley is in the middle of promotion for her album and was also interviewed this month by Sports Illustrated for her take on NASCAR.
“Lisa Marie ‘gets it,’” said Jason Rittenberry, Memphis Motorsports Park Vice President and General Manager. “She gets NASCAR, and how lucky for our race fans that she will be sharing a NASCAR race day in her hometown with them. We are truly looking forward to having her join us.”
The Sam’s Town 250 is the NASCAR season finale in Memphis, and promises to be the best in the track’s history, with a win critical to those at the top of the tight points race, including defending series and Memphis champion Martin Truex Jr., Carl Edwards, Reed Sorenson and Clint Bowyer. Bill Elliott - voted the Most Popular Driver a record 16 times by NASCAR fans - will also be back in Memphis for a rare NASCAR Busch Series race appearance.
The race week schedule includes Fanfest on Thursday night at Sam’s Town, two practice sessions on Friday afternoon, and qualifying on Saturday morning at 10:35 a.m. The race will take the green flag following Presley’s “command” at 2:30 p.m., and The Charlie Daniels Band will perform a post-race concert. Tickets are $15-$52.
For more information or to order tickets, call toll-free 1-866-40-SPEED or visit memphismotorsportspark.com.
The NASCAR Busch Series is the No. 2 motorsports series in the United States, second only to the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. It brings together up-and-coming drivers and established veterans where everyone has “something to prove.” This vital national series features 35 points races at 25 tracks nationwide and for the first time earlier this year, raced internationally in Mexico City. Over 2.7 million fans attended NASCAR Busch Series races last year.
Memphis Motorsports Park is owned by Dover Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE: DVD), a leading promoter of motorsports events in the United States. DVD subsidiaries operate tracks in three states, and present more than 500 motorsports events each year. This includes 15 major, national events which operate under the auspices of three of the premier sanctioning bodies in the U.S. — NASCAR, NHRA, and IRL. Dover Motorsports, Inc. also owns and operates Dover International Speedway in Dover, Del., Nashville Superspeedway near Nashville, Tenn., and Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis, Mo.

Sports Illustrated Associate Editor Richard Deitsch recently interviewed Lisa Marie Presley for the magazine's weekly Q&A. The 37-year-old singer (Now What) will serve as the Grand Marshall of the Busch Series' Sam's Town 250 on Oct. 22 in Memphis. Here are additional excerpts from the interview:
SI: What did you know about NASCAR prior to performing at the Pepsi 400?
Presley: That was the first race I ever attended. I had never watched the sport on television before and I'm not a sports person. I know that's a great thing to tell you during this interview. But when I was in the pits, I got to listen to what the drivers were saying to the crew. That was fascinating. And, now, oddly enough, I've been watching on Sundays when I get a chance.
SI: How did the NASCAR crowd react to you?
Presley: It was the most people I've ever played for -- 200,000 -- and that was scary. But what was more scary was that I had to go on live and it had been raining all day. The equipment was getting rained on and I was really worried about technical problems. It was being shown live on both coasts, so the audience was 12 million, plus the 200,000 people there.
SI: So did you pull an Ashlee Simpson or play live?
Presley: No, I played live.
SI: How much do you know about your dad's sports connections?
Presley: I know he was a huge football fan and player.
SI: Kirk Presley, a third cousin of your Dad's, was a Mets first-round draft pick in 1993. Ever see him pitch?
Presley: I don't know about him because I kind of got immune to the fact that people were coming from all walks of life saying they were a cousin or distant relative of mine. I tend not to know a whole lot about that.
SI: Michael Jordan's son, Jeffrey, is a high school basketball player who has started to get some attention. What kind of advice would you give to a really good young athlete who has to follow in footsteps of his famous father or mother?
Presley: You just have to be damn committed and damn good at what you are doing, and give it your best. Try to win by doing that and not by anything else. I think most people who I know in the situation of being a descendant of someone well-known stick pretty true to what they are about. My advice: try to be really professional about it and see what you can do with that and not ride on the coattails.
SI: You're going to be the Grand Marshall at an upcoming Busch Race. What are the job responsibilities of a Grand Marshall, anyway?
Presley: To say "Gentleman, Start Your Engines." It will be fun --and less nervewracking than singing the national anthem.
SI: Did you play any sports in high school?
Presley: I did not. But I can throw a football pretty good. I play football with my son.
SI: You must have been stunned by the commotion of a NASCAR race?
Presley: I was really thrown into very fast. It was a crash course, no pun intended. I had a simulated car ride and then went right into pits. When the engines started, I was completely yanked into the whole thing. It was exciting. And then when you see the risk factor involved and how these guys basically put their lives at risk a few hours a day for everyone's entertainment, it's freaky to watch.
SI: You're a Scientologist. Could Scientology help an athlete perform better and if so, how?
Presley: I think Scientology can help anyone in any area in life. Scientology tends to focus more your abilities then the negative aspects of your person.
SI: Are you ever comfortable being interviewed?
Presley: Sometimes, if I haven't done one for awhile and its not the same old crap, I actually have some fun. It depends on the interviewer. I either clam up or start chatting.
SI: Is this crap?
Presley: This is fine

Lisa Marie has it bad -- and NASCAR capitalizes *Thank you Julie!
The question was simple enough: Would you like to interview Lisa Marie Presley?
She's the face of the latest 30-second NASCAR ad that asks, "How bad have you got it?" The commercial combines footage of Lisa Marie at the Pepsi 400, race footage and her song Thanx off the Now What album. NASCAR also is in discussions with Capitol Records for cross-promotion at retail and radio venues around the Presley-NASCAR relationship.
LMP -- daughter of Elvis and Priscilla, activist, musician. ... Yeah, I could be persuaded.
My parents instilled in me at an early age a great sense of history. I know Elvis' story, from Tupelo to Graceland; I grew up 30 minutes south of Tupelo, a couple hours from Memphis. Other than Highway 45, Elvis was the best thing to ever come out of Northeast Mississippi.
Elvis and Priscilla were married the day we loaded up the family Ford Falcon and moved from Fayetteville, Tenn., to Aberdeen, Miss.
Ten years later, fate had my mom and me on a Trailsway bus en route from Tennessee to Mississippi -- but mired in heavy traffic in Memphis; the world was laying The King to rest. (Like many others, my mom still has the August 1977 newspapers that mourned Presley's death.) We both have daughters named Riley (Lisa Marie) or Reily (me).
Interview Lisa Marie? Yeah, that's doable. I know her story, too -- and it's not Jacko or Nick Cage. It's never been about her celebrity, not for me.
She's into LEAP and the Citizens Commission on Human Rights. She's also actively involved with Presley Place. The lady isn't big on talk; she's does the walk.
After the interview everyone had the same question: What's she like? As if the answer was going to include the words "diva" or "prima donna." Truth is Lisa Marie's every other thirtysomething mother of two with a career. When she's not Lisa Marie Presley, she's mom. What else is there? Lisa Marie comes across as someone you'd want in your circle of friends.
And that's where we began ...
So, Ms. Presley, would you do another ride-along with Wally Dallenbach? "Hell no! ... But I would like to go around the track with someone sane," she says.
For those who missed it, her pre-Pepsi 400 "Wally's World" trek around Daytona was must-scream TV.
"I knew I was in for it," says Presley, "when I asked him before we started that if I asked he would slow down. He didn't answer."
Presley performed before the Pepsi 400 at Daytona on July 2, and though that was her first NASCAR race to attend in person, she's quick to say that "I kinda got hooked."
"I got a crash-course in the whole arena -- racers, their stories. ... It's amazing [that they] basically jeopardize their lives for our entertainment."
And it's that entertainment on which NASCAR is looking to capitalize. Presley is the latest entertainer to lend her fame to the "How bad have you got it?" marketing campaign, joining a list that includes Hootie and the Blowfish, Sheryl Crow and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others.
Presley also says the sport's ongoing move toward the left coast will be well-received. "I think the West Coast will embrace NASCAR; there is more of an audience."
Speaking of audiences, Presley's music is gaining its own -- despite the industry's current slant toward pop princesses. "[The music industry] is not at its best at this moment," she says. "It's not conducive to different kinds of music. ... It's shallow and commercial."
Nonetheless, her gritty debut album To Whom It May Concern was certified gold and her follow-up entry debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard chart.
Presley admits it has been "hard to walk my own path," but says she wouldn't change a thing. "Most of the content of the second record is radio-friendly. But I did my own thing, didn't conform -- and that's not necessarily praised in society."
Her daughter, Riley Keough, also has done her own thing. She did two runway shows during Fashion Week 2002 in Milan, Italy, for designers Dolce & Gabbana, and she currently is a model for the Dior fashion house.
Presley readily admits to having reservations about 16-year-old Riley pursuing a modeling career. "Yes, of course -- because of the nature of [the business] savors superficial things. But she's so unaffected by all of it, and all is going good."
However, she does have some advice for those who either want to break into the entertainment industry or are trying to follow famous footsteps: "All you can do is the best you can do. Be serious about it.
"Being an individual is OK rather than being what you're thought of or should be."
To that end, Presley has engaged herself in several projects to help others. In 2002, she testified before Congress on behalf of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, championing the cause against labeling children mentally ill and drugging them with heavy, mind-altering, psychiatric drugs.
She also supporters LEAP -- the Literacy, Education and Ability Program -- as well as Presley Place, a charitable organization in Memphis that helps homeless people.
"I'm not someone out for myself," she says. "I'm not vain and I don't want attention. I have to take responsibility because I have the ability to help others. ... I'm blessed to be privileged."

Lisa Marie is hardly ‘unnoticeable’ *Thank you, raxsana!
By Pete King | Contributing Writer
Despite the many critics and cynics who have often discarded or given little recognition to Lisa Marie Presley, only referencing her to her father or three failed marriages, she has managed to compose what is both personal and autobiographical music that gives a glimpse into a very intimate portrait of her life.
She is subtle yet strong about her views, as she tries to claim ownership of her own identity, separate from family ties.
Although, it is on her first album, “To Whom It May Concern,” where Lisa Marie compiled a very compellingly deep track about her father titled “Nobody Noticed It.”
“I know your resemblance it’s out there walking and I wanted you to know that I haven’t forgotten.”
As Lisa Marie continues, she goes through the process of not only writing, but telling the monologue of what many have called the rise and fall of Elvis.
Although, to Lisa Marie, Elvis was more than just a hip-shaking rock ‘n’ roll star, he was her father. Despite him dying when she was 9, he would forever have an impact on both her life and her music.
“While I wish that I had spent just a little more time with you.”
Despite their lack of time together, in an interview on “Larry King Live,” Lisa Marie explains how she fully understands, what it means to be the daughter of the King, and the risks involved in putting herself out there musically.
“I’m going to go out and do it because I don’t want fear to stop me.”
Lisa Marie said even with family relations that help get her in the door, the rest is up to her talent and abilities.
Of course, I’m not trying to plead a sympathy case for Lisa Marie, but instead I would like to point out that despite her mishaps, and torrid media frenzied affairs that have distorted or misrepresented her life, she has managed to overshadow her doubting critics, while at the same time responding to their criticisms with a unique, uncontrived, passionate song.
“And they tried to make you look broken, but not while I’m living ‘cause I want you to know that I heard what you said, when it was raining.”
This, in a sense could be considered somewhat of a spiritual and mystical line, that of course responds to those who attacked Elvis in the darker and more grim days leading up to his death, while at the same time it’s almost as if she will always know that there is a very special connection between her and her father.
It is, of course, that same father, whose legacy many will remember with
or without Lisa Marie.
Regardless of previous opinions, I would submit to many that it would be a worthwhile idea to give her musical talents a second glance. If nothing else, consider the song “Nobody Noticed It,” with lyrics that offer an understanding into the world of the one person who felt the effects of Elvis’s death all too well.
“You’re still lovely, you were lovely then, all that you had to endure I guess nobody noticed it.”
“Tears on my ceiling, I know that you’re watching, well I guess none of us, will ever know, what comes after this".
